February 5, 2008, Volume 2, Issue 21 IPA Offers Members Opportunity to Dialogue Key Questions IPA has begun a new service for members to dialogue online about "Key Questions" that are impacting schools and educational leaders. The first key question centers on the implementation of RTI and can be found at http://web.mac.com/ilprincipals/IPA/The_Principals_Principles/ Please feel free to share how this important issue is impacting you and how your school is moving forward. The IPA Offers Travel Opportunity The Illinois Principals Association is excited to be sponsors of a wonderful 8 day trip to London England. Participants will leave from Chicago (and possibly St. Louis) on June 16, 2008. ACIS has specially prepared this trip for IPA members and their families which will include an upgraded 4 star hotel located in the heart of London, scheduled commercial air travel, and most breakfasts and dinners with wine. The trip also includes a special one day trip to Bath and Stonehenge at no extra charge. Also included are professionally guided tours of the Tower of London, The Globe Theatre, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, a visit to an elementary and high school, and much, much more. There will also be time for shopping, an evening (or two) at the theatre, and time to visit special interest locations throughout the London area. Unlimited travel on the Tube and the London City busses is also a part of the package. The cost of this fantastic 8 day trip is only $3099 (plus the fuel surcharge). Public Comment Window Open for Green Cleaning Schools Guidelines and Specifications The Green Cleaning Schools Guidelines and Specifications are now open for public comment. The Green Governments Coordinating Council has submitted the mandatory sections of the guidelines and specifications as emergency and proposed rules. The text of the rules can be found in the Illinois Register dated today and available online at http://www.ilsos.net/departments/index/register/register_volume32_issue5.pdf. The emergency rules are now in effect for 150 days. The proposed rules (identical text) are subject to public comment. Please read the Notice of Proposed Rules in the Illinois Register for instructions on how to comment. Comments are due in 45 days. Survey on Teacher Leadership Role in Public Education from Western Illinois University Colleagues - The Illinois State Board of Education has asked us to help them determine what leadership roles teachers are currently performing in Illinois Schools.
