Give Back to the Profession by Mentoring a New Principal

If you are a current or retired principal interested in giving back to the profession, please consider mentoring a new principal.  You must have had at least three years of experience as a principal in Illinois, taken part in required mentor training, and applied to be a mentor with an ISBE certified Mentoring Entity.  To find a complete list of certified Mentoring Entities and more information about the Illinois New Principal Mentoring Program, please visit www.ilprincipalmentoring.org.

Take Time To Recognize the Efforts of Your School Social Worker

Each year The Illinois Association of School Social Workers honors a worthy School Social Worker at their annual Fall Conference.  If you would like to nominate a School Social Worker for School Social Worker of the Year, nomination forms are available at the IASSW web site at www.iassw.org.  The deadline for receipt of nominations and letters of support is June 15th, 2008.

Radon Poster Contest for Youth Ages 9 to 14

The University of Illinois Extension along with the American Lung Association of Illinois and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Radon Program are partnering with the National Safety Council and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to sponsor the Illinois portion of the 2009 National Radon Poster Contest. The contest is for youth ages 9-14 in schools, home schools, after-school groups, 4-H clubs, girl scouts and boy scouts, and other youth groups.
