NAESP Update from Kim Zinman NAESP

It’s Time to VOTE!

NAESP members will be receiving their ballots for President-elect any day.  One of the candidates is from Zone 5 – OUR ZONE!  Our Zone includes members from Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.  Take a close look at the candidates and their statements.  Diane Cargile has been active in her home state of Indiana, in Zone 5, and at the national level.  The last Zone 5 candidate that went on to be president was Rosie Young from Kentucky, and many years ago another Zone 5 candidate became president: John Ourth.  We hope that you will consider supporting Diane in her quest to become the next president-elect.  Ballots were to be mailed out mid-April, so watch for yours AND VOTE!

A Tribute to John Ourth

At the NAESP Delegate Assembly on April 8th, Teresa Martin and Kim Zinman were presented with a beautiful plaque in remembrance of John Ourth, “in recognition of his tremendous commitment to principals and children and his outstanding service to the IPA and NAESP”.  One copy of the plaque will hang at the IPA office, one will hang at the NAESP office, and one will be presented to John’s family at our fall conference.  The most touching tribute was the standing ovation for John by over 400 delegates!

Membership Update

Illinois’ membership in NAESP has seen a drop in the past year.  A new membership campaign will begin this spring and there will be incentives for members who recruit new members.  Watch the PrinciPAL and the listserv for information as it becomes available.  Please contact Kim Zinman if you need membership information or want information about NAESP.
