The IPA, with our partners in the School Leader Collaborative, developed the School Leader Evaluation Plan (based on the School Leader Paradigm) to assist school districts with the development of their own school leader evaluation systems that are relevant and useful. Unlike other evaluation tools that are comprised of checklists or only focus on activities that school leaders do, the School Leader Evaluation Plan seeks to assist school districts with the development of an evaluation system that helps school leaders grow their leadership dispositions and the skills necessary for them to do their work effectively throughout their career continuum from Aspiring to Launching to Building to Mastering.

An ISBE-approved administrator academy (AA #3967), which meets the Illinois principal evaluation statutory requirements, introduces participants to the new plan which was piloted in Illinois during the 2022-2023 school year. In addition to this introduction, participants will also review the Illinois evaluation requirements and explore the online resources and tools which can aid in the plan’s implementation and support the leader’s professional growth.
