In today’s school environment one of the most important issues is to ensure social justice for all students. As recognized by Illinois, ensuring inclusion of LGBTQ students with curriculum, policies, clubs, counseling, and leadership has received new focus. As leaders, we want to ensure social-emotional needs are met to help all students become life-long learners. While not intentionally, sometimes we view students through our personal lens that can unintentionally be filtered by bias. This academy will offer the opportunity to reflect on possible bias, reflect on personal context and opportunities provided for inclusion of LGBTQ students and plan for how to ensure implementation of various improvements to ensure social justice for LGBTQ students.
